HOW DO YOU ASSESS MY CHILD?

Your child will be assessed in the initial lesson allowing subsequent lessons to be planned. This is in addition to any information you are able to provide. Continuous assessment is part of the teaching and learning process in order to ensure the ongoing lessons are tailored to your child's needs.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT PROGRESS MY CHILD IS MAKING?

Any updates can be provided towards the end of the session. If the lesson is online, a pdf of the material can also be sent by email to see what topics have been covered.
If you would like to discuss progress outside of the lesson time, we can arrange a phone call or Zoom chat.

WHAT EQUIPMENT WILL I NEED FOR THE LESSON?

If the lesson is online, a good internet connection is essential so as not to waste valuable time. Ideally a PC or laptop with webcam and if possible a writing tablet (but not essential). A calculator might also be needed in some lessons.
For face-to-face lessons, I provide all the necessary materials and equipment but it is sometimes useful to see examples of school work, reading books and homework.

WHAT'S YOUR POLICY FOR CANCELLATIONS?

You may cancel your tutoring session without penalty no later than 24 hours before the scheduled lesson. If however you cancel within 24 hours of the session or fail to attend, the session will be charged at the full amount.
Where possible, I will offer an alternative slot in the same week.

MY CHILD NEEDS ENGLISH AND MATHS LESSONS. CAN YOU TEACH THESE IN THE SAME LESSON?

All lessons are adapted to your child's needs so English and maths can be taught in the same lesson. Sometimes it might be more appropriate to dedicate a whole lesson to one particular subject. For example, if there is a writing focus it is often better to develop ideas and draft the first piece of writing in the same lesson so as to maintain the momentum.
